APA for Word 2016


Once the new header is added to page two, you can add an abstract of your paper. Often abstracts are not required for particular assignments--always check with your instructor. An abstract is a summary of the content of your paper and the word count typically ranges from 150 to 250 words.

  1. Type and center “Abstract” on the first line 
  2. Without indenting, type in your abstract beginning on line two. 
  3. Immediately below the abstract, indent and type “Keywords:” in italics. 
  4. Add keywords that describe the content of your paper. 
  5. Hit the enter key until you drop to the third page, or else select the Insert tab and hit Page Break.
