Carteret Community College has a number of initiatives and projects that relate to advising:
- The MAPS Center (career and advising center)
- Virtual Job Shadow -- video-based career planning platform
- NC Guided Pathways to Success (GPS) -- initiative focused on advising and mapping educational pathways
- Advising Committee -- a faculty-driven committee with ideas about how to improve advising at the College
- Ellucian Self-Service -- student planning system
- College Success Course -- renewed emphasis on using Baccalaureate Degree Plans to map education pathways​
- NCWorks Career Coaches -- grant funded positions to help the College reach out to middle- and high-school students to identify career and educational goals and determine pathways to achieve them
