Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Welcome!

Welcome to the Carteret CC Library Research Guide on Artificial Intelligence. In this guide, you will discover how artificial intelligence is impacting education. Use the left-hand navigation to explore the topics. Below are some useful definitions.

Artificial Intelligence (AI): Refers to the capability of a computer or machine to perform tasks that typically require human intelligence.

Generative AI: AI that learns from existing data to create new, realistic content at scale, such as images, videos, music, text, and more. It employs various evolving techniques, including foundation models trained on broad datasets, with complex math and computing power required to produce these predictions. (Gartner - What is Gen AI).

Large language models (LLMs): Foundation models trained on vast amounts of data, allowing them to understand and generate natural language and other content for a wide range of tasks. (IBM - What are LLMs).

Machine learning (ML): A branch of AI and computer science that uses data and algorithms to enable machines to mimic human learning, gradually improving accuracy. (IBM - What is ML).
